Forrester Research report (Ref: Computer Weekly) that IT depts can improve their efficiency by using ITIL. The report states: "ITIL is the foundation for better control of how IT delivers services to business."
Standards Australia have published AS8018 (AS 8018), to equate to BS 15000 / ISO 20000.

Finally, the wait is over - the new version of ITIL has been born.
It is very different to the old version. Apart from the obvious, that there are now only five volumes, the whole 'look and feel' is different, and the approach is certainly different (lifecycle versus straight operational process).

The books currently have many inconstancies i.e. incorrectly calling somthing a process or including release within change, then making it a sub-process of change in another book. Also roles and responsibilities seem to have proliferated. Apart from the foundation, the other courses are not yet mature or available. The trainers have not had the time to fully understand some of the concepts. I would wait.
